Dayo Alabi

Mr Alabi started his career as a Management Trainee with Lever Brothers Nigeria PLC. in 1981 and rose to the position of Industrial Products Manager in the Marketing Division before he resigned in 1987. He joined Nalin Industries PLC, Port Harcourt in 1987 as Marketing Manager and left for Standard Packaging Nigeria Limited in 1988 as Marketing Manager, rising to the position of General Manager before taking up appointment in 1992 as Managing Director/CEO of CSS Limited (formerly CMS/CSS Bookshops), the oldest surviving publishing, printing and book retailing Organisation in Nigeria.

He resigned from CSS Limited in August, 2001 to establish, along with people of the same vision, The Book Company Limited, where he is currently the Managing Director/CEO.

Mr Alabi is a graduate of Business Administration, Fellow, Institute of Publishing (Nigerian Publishers Association), Fellow, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Member, Pan African Booksellers’ Association and Member, Institute of Directors.

Mr Alabi was President of the Nigerian Booksellers Association, Vice President of the Nigerian Publishers Association, and Chairman of the Nigerian Book Fair Trust, the umbrella body for the seven major book associations in Nigeria and the organisers of the Nigeria International Book Fair.

He was a member of the Council of Management of the African Books Collective Limited, Oxford, United Kingdom.
